There are actually 20 mineral elements necessary or beneficial for plant growth.
Carbon C, Hydrogen H and oxygen O are supplied by air and water.
The 6 Macronutrients  required are : Nitrogen N , Phosphorous  P, Potassium K , Calcium Ca , Magnesium Mg and sulfur S ,
The rest of Macronutrients of the minerals are required in the trace amounts are : 
Boron B , Chlorine CL , Copper CU , Iron Fe , Magnesium Mn , Sodium Na, Zinc Zn , Molybdenum Mo, and Nickel Ni.
